  1. What about a page for faculty new to UNCP?

  2. Thanks for these great suggestions. The discussion pages have been added:

    – Budget Strategies (department strategies for dealing with cuts)
    – Intellectual Property (copyright concerns)
    – Liberal Education (goals of liberal arts education)
    – Reading & Writing (what do faculty do and what do they want)
    – Service Learning (relationship to mission and community)

Please let us know of other desirable topics for the UNCP Faculty Corner blog.

  3. A page concerning different department strategies for dealing with budget cuts might be good for sharing ideas among the faculty. Like Walter suggested

  4. Can we have a topic regarding the goals of liberal arts education (including critical thinking, etc) and the goals of our students and whether there is a gap between the two.

  5. How about a copyright concerns section since we don’t have a University copyright office?

  6. A page concerning different department strategies for dealing with budget cuts might be good for sharing ideas among the faculty. There may already be a relevant thread here (or forum elsewhere), but I haven’t seen it on a quick perusal.

  7. I’d like to open a conversation about both reading and writing. More specifically, I’d like to know what faculty across the campus would like students in their disciplines to be able to do in/with writing. I’d also like to know more about how faculty perceive their students’ preparation for close, critical, and informed reading of a variety of texts in their various disciplines. Finally, I’d like to know to what extent faculty provide discipline-based instruction in reading and/or writing, especially in upper-level courses.

    Thanks!
